   COMPUTER CLASS

Mrs. Trumble

Welcome Spring!!

Notre Dame School provides development and instruction in computer technology to students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.  Students learn basic computer operation, technology resources, and applications.  Our goal is to provide a strong computer foundation for our students, to insure that each student is able to independently operate a computer.

Students in Kindergarten through 2nd Grade are taught the basic terminology of the parts of the computer.  They are taught how to turn the computer on and off properly and how to open and close programs.  They primarily use KidPix and various computer activities that are age appropriate.

Make sure you supervise your children while they "surf the net".
Students in 3rd Grade through 5th Grade work on keyboarding throughout the school year.  They are also taught the basics of Microsoft Word.  We work on internet scavenger hunts using various search engines.  We supplement classroom work by using educational websites that have "games" that reinforce the topics being studied in the classroom.
Image Preview    Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades work throughout the year on their keyboarding skills.  Additionally, they work on Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.  They learn the proper names of the elements of each program as well as how to operate each application.
